Content Creation Services: Blog Posts Clients Talk About

marketing blog posts content creation ochre and beige

Since I started Ochre & Beige in 2017 writing blog posts for interior designers, I’ve heard people asking this question. Blogging wasn’t dead back then, and it isn’t dead now either, BUT…

It’s 2024 and we have to discuss the new kid in town: AI-generated content. Over the past year, my team and I have experimented with AI as a marketing tool — we’ve taken webinars, discussed it in our business circles, and even trained GPT to write like us. (That’s a future story, but let’s just say we were unimpressed.)

What have we found?

How AI is Impacting the Blogging Landscape

The upside for marketing your business is that AI can help you churn out ideas and content rapidly, leveling the playing field with firms who work with a team (like us) to do it for them. Great, right? Well, sort of…

We’ve also seen several downsides to AI:

  • AI content is generic, recycling what already exists online.
  • AI content doesn’t feel human or know what’s right for your business.
  • AI doesn’t know what’s true, so misinformation is possible.

I stumbled across this Forbes article that says it best:

“Humans still possess vital traits that even the most advanced AI systems struggle with: true creativity, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, judgment, and high-level reasoning.”

Our opinion?

As the market gets more crowded and homogenous, it’s our role as creatives to look inward for inspiration, to invent, and to be thought-leaders in our fields.

→ Because AI doesn’t lead; it follows.

→ AI doesn’t create; it replicates.

Which brings us back to my question: “Is blogging dead?” Absolutely not. It’s still alive and well in every industry: interior design, tech, fashion, you name it.

Your Blog is Part of Your Most Valuable Digital Real Estate: Your Website

We like to think of your blog as digital real estate—and unlike social media, you own it. As such, it’s still one of the BEST platforms to showcase your personality, connect, and attract your favorite clients.

(In case you need more proof that it’s powerful, search engines and social platforms alike continue to reward truly original, relevant, and engaging content.)

SUMMARY: Blogging isn’t dead. In fact, when done well, it’s become more meaningful and valuable than ever. It can also be repurposed in so many different ways. We reshare past blog posts — the ones that are still relevant, of course — monthly at O&B. It’s just smart marketing and a good use of resources.

And in case you need more proof — ALL of our retainer clients (a select group that we create monthly blog posts and newsletters for) have been with us for 3-5 years. With the exception of ONE new client who joined us in 2024, which was the first time we had opened up a spot for a new client in 2 years.

Translation: They stay because it works.

Not only do we track analytics, but our clients have also told us that their posts spark conversations in real life. Potential clients reference them on sales calls. Clients receive them during key points in their design process. And beyond.

Blog posts can work for your business in SO many ways.

Looking for Blogging Support?

We offer blog post packages (3 or 6 at a time) and monthly retainer services as space allows. You can reach out to us here to learn more about our approach (timeless over trendy) and start the conversation. We can’t wait to meet you!

Cheers,
Jaquilyn
